Description
Ethylene Carbonate (EC) is a high-performance organic solvent capable of dissolving various polymers. It serves as a versatile organic intermediate, replacing ethylene oxide in dioxidation reactions and acting as the primary raw material for dimethyl carbonate production via transesterification.
A critical application of Ethylene Carbonate is in the battery industry, where it is used as an excellent solvent for lithium battery electrolytes. Additionally, it is utilized as an active intermediate in the production of lubricating oils and greases, as well as in the synthesis of furazolidone and fiber finishing agents.
EC is an effective solvent for polyacrylonitrile and polyvinyl chloride. Its utility extends to textile drawing liquids, acidic gas removal solvents, concrete additives, pharmaceutical components, plastic foaming agents, and stabilizers for synthetic lubricants.
